Following the TouMaLi International Conference, 20 hotels that had been recruited for the pilot project in greater Alexandria have been visited by a project team from the University of Rostock and BlackForest Solutions. Data about general conditions and waste management was collected or reviewed, and current waste management framework conditions and practices were documented and analysed. In the further course, individual waste management concepts will now be developed for the hotels. The aim is to improve the waste management infrastructure and establish good waste sorting at the source to be able to adequately treat and recycle the resulting waste streams, increase recycling rates and minimise landfill rates
