TouMaLi Tunisia: CITET Advances Waste Management Training in HoReCa Sector

In an ongoing effort to enhance waste management practices within the Hospitality, Restaurant, and Catering (HoReCa) sector, CITET has recently conducted a pivotal training session titled "Waste Management in HoReCa Establishments." This initiative, part of a broader coaching and training programme launched in June 2024, follows an intensive diagnostic phase that pinpointed key weaknesses and areas for improvement in partner establishments.

Held over four days from February 25 to 28, 2025, the training targeted two distinct HoReCa groups. The primary focus was on tackling waste management challenges, with a special emphasis on plastic waste within tourist-focused establishments. Participants were guided on how to align with current legislation, set realistic waste management and reduction goals, and develop comprehensive action plans to achieve these objectives.

A significant component of the training involved presenting the findings of the initial diagnostic mission. This presentation aimed to elevate awareness about the critical nature of waste management issues within the sector. Additionally, the training provided a platform for participants to engage in meaningful exchanges and share practical experiences, fostering a collaborative environment for identifying further actionable strategies.

Moving forward, CITET plans to continue this initiative through ongoing coaching and follow-up missions. These efforts will support the implementation of tailored action plans designed to enhance waste sorting, recovery, and reduction practices. By ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, the programme aims to significantly reduce the environmental impact of HoReCa establishments, thereby promoting sustainable development across the sector.
